In this venture into Camelot, the author succeeds where so many before have failed in finally giving the classic stories the emotional depth and humanity that they have always lacked. Where before there were caricatures and cardboard cutouts of chest-beating knights and sighing ladies-in-waiting, Gibby has fashioned truly authentic people of complexity, flaws, and beauty.

I was subtly drawn in as the reader to be invested in Arthur, his queen and his knights. These works have the feel of the “Lord of the Rings”, but with the light and inspiration that C.S. Lewis brought to his tales. There are also the many stories within these books that weave harmoniously together in a manner like that of Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserables.” In short, they are novels that I am sure will stand the test of time.
